Turntable Tuesday | The Doors, Weird Scenes Inside the Goldmine

I honestly don’t know how you can’t talk about vinyl without ever NOT talking about The Doors! I know for some they are a bit of a love or hate band, myself falling in the love category. I could listen to Doors albums every day for the rest of my life and I would be a happy girl!

Last Summer in fact we had the very special opportunity to even meet drummer John Densmore and he was such a sweet, kind man! Though he was not the “official” Record Store Day 2014 ambassador he was very instrumental in it’s success this year promoting it by traveling and doing special events for it. At an one of these such events he was quote saying “The sense of community found in record stores was echoed by John Densmore, who spoke about his recent experiences with book signings at record stores around the country. He called record stores an 'oasis' and said how he loves the diversity found in record stores, with all types of music located in one place.” We actually were one of the people at the said record store book signings John mentioned and that was so awesome to hear!

That said, we are close to owning all the different albums produced by and for the The Doors. For Record Store Day 2014 The Doors, Weird Scenes Inside the Goldmine reissue on amber colored vinyl was released. Since buying this gem a little over a week ago we have already given it many spins! Essentially a compilation album produced in originally in 1972 after the passing of Jim Morrison it also includes two b-sides tracks "Who Scared You" and "(You Need Meat) Don't Go No Further". As a fan of The Doors this certainly is a must add to your collection and you won’t be disappointed!

Fornear Photo Friday | Sara & Taylor Central WI E-Shoot, Part II

So last week I showed off the awesome color war part of the shoot that Sara & Taylor surprised us with and now is for the rest of the awesome photos from that day! I am not sure if I mentioned it in the previous post (and even if I did am AGAIN any way…) and that is Sara & Taylor found Fornear Photo through Offbeat Bride. Side note, we can’t say enough about Offbeat Bride, it is an AMAZING site!

Anyway, before we got crazy with color we had a fun time shooting around Stevens Point, WI near Sara & Taylor’s hometown. Though the day was super cold and there was a lot of quick taking off of coats for shots and hand warmers we are glad that through the photos you don’t see that at all.

These two have so many fun interests including attending renaissance festivals and we have to say we are REALLY excited for their wedding… especially since Game of Thrones started again because YES they are having a Game of Thrones wedding this summer! I can’t tell you how thrilled we are for their wedding!

Thirsty Thursday | Dogfish Head, Aprihop

I might be a bit behind the eight ball on the bunny / Easter thing but I just couldn’t NOT do a post about Dogfish Head’s awesome Aprihop IPA that I just discovered! Some of you may know that Dogfish Head unfortunately had to leave the Wisconsin market for some time however in the last 6 months they have been making their grand return to our state! With that, we are finally getting to explore the uniquely creative brews from this amazing brewery.

I came across Aprihop a few weeks ago and knew as soon as I saw it that it would be going in my basket that moment and I am so glad it did! This seasonal offering from Dogfish Head is a beautiful American IPA with subtle accent of apricot and at a 7% abv a slight kick to it. For the hopheads out there you won’t be disappointed with the abundance of Amarillo hops used in this tasty treat too.

In my opinion this beer is one that benefits by letting it warm up a touch after taking it out of the fridge… so don’t be scared to let it hang out on the counter for about 10 minutes before sipping, that is if you can wait that long!

Turntable Tuesday | Record Store Day 2014

If you are not yet familiar with one of the most amazing days of the year let me help introduce you to what is known as Record Store Day! Celebrated on the third Saturday of April annually marking 2014 as it’s 7th year since it’s inception. Created with the inspiration to bring together amazing music and the culture that is the local independent music store it has more than succeeded with each year becoming more popular than the one previous. One of the MANY cool things about Record Store Day is that every year an “official ambassador” is selected in conjunction with the event… such ambassadors have included the likes of Jack White, Josh Homme, Ozzy Osborne and this year’s Chuck D.

I can’t tell you how excited we were for this year’s Record Store Day! So many great releases and we had an awesome plan to leave the Northwoods and start in Green Bay, WI at Exclusive Company and Rock n’ Roll Land then work our way down to Milwaukee, WI before heading across the boarder South to Illinois for the Easter holiday. Very late Friday night these plans changed…. At least for me. Our boxer pup Giada has been having some ailments of late, which came to a head and we made our decision I would stay the weekend home with her to take her to the vet early in the morning and Matt would continue on with the adventure. (The pup is not doing super great but is a bit better so that is a plus).

Needless to say we are quite glad he did as we got ALMOST everything on our special Record Store Day release list (which I will post next week). In the mean time here are a few snap shots Matt caught with his iPhone throughout the day. Enjoy!

Fornear Photo Friday | Sara & Taylor’s Central WI E-Shoot

It’s funny sometimes clients of ours (especially ones we haven’t met in person yet) really surprise us… in the best ways! Sara & Taylor are an awesome couple from Central Wisconsin that are now living in Oregon.

Planning their wedding from such a far distance has been a bit crazy for these two high school sweethearts but one of their things on the agenda for their spring visit before the wedding was their engagement shoot!

We all had some awesome ideas for the shoot but a surprise color war idea… brilliant! Oh and as you can see it had some pretty amazing results!

Because of this part of the shoot was so colorful (yes, pun intended) it is actually just part one of two posts on Sara & Taylor’s engagement shoot since we have so many other awesome pictures we want to share (that aren’t color war related). We have never shot one of these until now and it was super fun…. It’s just a shame that it was about 15 F with a windchill of 0 F out at the time otherwise I think we could have shot this all day / all night!
