Hi there! Were the heck is the Northwoods you say!? If yous guys love cheese, the Packers, hockey and know what a FIB is or that Wisconsin is pronounced WIS-kahn-sin never WES-consin… than your answer would be Northern Wisconsin! If we don’t like something we don’t say so, we simply say it’s “interesting” and we measure driving distances in hours (example: I live 1.5hrs from the nearest mall or Target… yes that is correct!) In these parts we tend to hold our o’s and our families closer, a beer before Noon is perfectly acceptable and a night out at a super club (that really isn’t a club at all) is filled with old fashioneds, a relish tray and lots of laughs.
My Northwoods Life is a lifestyle blog not only featuring life in the small corner of the world that is the Northwoods encompassing Northern Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan (affectionate known in these parts at the U.P) but also travel around the Midwest, photography, design, food, beer, music and more.
Who am… Well I am Krista! Collector of vinyl, unique beers, Pyrex and tattoos. I am a graphic designer by trade, second shooter for my husband’s photography business Fornear Photo and a craft beer sales representative (so YES I do drink beer for a living.) Being a pescatarian in the land of steak and venison is a bit tough, so a great Friday fish fry is always a beautiful thing! For 15 years until just recently I lived beyond the Northwoods in the metropolises of Phoenix Arizona, Chicago Illinois and Milwaukee Wisconsin … so it’s not to say that I don’t enjoy the big city but there really is no place like home.
My Husband Man (Matt) and I, with our kitty Auggie enjoy this small slice of Americana in our Mid-Century home surrounded by tall pine trees, fresh air and at certain times of the year LOTS of snow.
