Turntable Tuesday | Queens of the Stone Age, Rated R

These early March temperatures of 52 F have Spring on my mind, who doesn’t love driving with the windows rolled down blaring some rock!? I am not sure about you but there are few current bands that do rock as well as Queens of the Stone Age!

It sort of blow’s my mind that this album is almost 15yrs old… Coming out in the Summer of 2000 Queens of the Stone Age, Rated R (or as the vinyl addition is called, Rated X) has almost a timeless sound to it. In fact, we spin or stream this pretty regularly, especially since getting tickets to QOTSA in Milwaukee this May with my cousin and her husband. The Husband Man actually has already seen them once with his buddies and was more than happy to be getting to see them again. For me they are just such an awesome rock band unlike anyone else out there.

Rated R has some adult subject matter if you will, making many references to drugs and alcohol but don’t let that fool or deter you from giving this a listen. With such an honest, gritty rock n’ roll sound, raw guitar riffs and Josh Homme’s boozy vocals of a crooner from a different era make this album perfect for the person who simply loves good music. These boys from the desert know how to rock so give them a listen!
