Fornear Photo Friday | Michelle & Dan's Racine, WI Engagement Shoot

This weekend we will be in the South Milwaukee / Oak Creek WI area for Michelle & Dan’s wedding. In honor of that I thought I would share their engagement shoot from last summer in Racine, Wisconsin. Michelle was a bridesmaid in a wedding we shot over 3yrs ago and we were really excited that she remembered to think of us!

We met at a local Racine bar for a quick beer and then headed off to lots of different spots around the area on what was an amazing summer day along the shore of Lake Michigan including a stop at the historic Wind Point Lighthouse.

Michelle & Dan are such a nice and laid back couple we can’t wait to spend the day with them, their family and friends tomorrow and eventually share the images from their wedding day as well!

Thirsty Thursday | Central Waters, Illumination

I love, love, love local Wisconsin breweries! I especially love when they make awesome beer and are even being recognized nationally. Central Waters Brewery out of Amherst in Central Wisconsin is one of those such breweries and as far as I am concerned after brewing for 16 years they really are one of the current “IT” breweries in the state!

On the search for their newly Gold World Cup Winning anniversary beer appropriately titled “16” I stopped in the brewery to get a few bottles (that I will save for another post) but while I was there I was also able to pick up a currently seasonal, Illumination Double IPA and I was blown away! I have tried and loved many Central Waters brews but this one I had not had yet. I am so happy I was able to snag a 6pk of this immensely hoppy yet smooth blend of bright citrusy hops. Such an easy drinking double IPA, it easily masks the high abv up above 9%. Though I dare say you could drink this all day, you might not finish your day if you try to but it will be hard to put this amazing beer down!

Travel | New York, New York – World Trade Center Memorial

Every couple of years my sisters and I have been trying to do a sisters trip, which is great because we all travel quite well together and we always have a blast! A little over a week ago we made our most recent trek, this time eastward bound to the Big Apple and Connecticut. Sister Lisa my fabulous hair stylist had a certification class she was taking and thus Sister Michele and I were able to join the fun!

One of the most touching things we did while in New York was visit the Word Trade Center Memorial and the new Freedom Tower (which also happens to now be the tallest building in America). It was a very beautiful tribute yet hauntingly quite, as it should be at such a hallow site. We also learned while we are there that the term “Ground Zero” is no longer being used as life has moved on, which all of my sisters and I couldn’t have agreed more on.

In honor of Memorial Day this week and all of the victims of one the most horrendous tragedies in American history, I felt it fitting to share some of the images from our visit to the Word Trade Center Memorial that day.

Turntable Tuesday | Supertramp, Breakfast in America

When we first started collecting records many of them were thrift store or resale shop finds (and still are!) This is always much better on the pocketbook and a great way to save some really amazing albums from being lost forever. Though over time our collection has grown larger and larger we do still have a handful of select favorites we seem to spin much more often than others. The album Breakfast in America by Supertramp is an example of all of these things to us!

I happen to find this album for a whopping $2 in the basement of such described antique store and it was in amazing condition (not always the case with finds in these types of locations). I have always loved Supertramp but little did I know this whole album is amazing! Breakfast in America was the 1979 breakout album for Supertramp after having already produced several studio recordings before this. Fun fact, Breakfast in America is still the #1 selling English language album of all time to date in France.

For awhile this lived on our turntable, now we still pull it out of hiding more often than many other records we possess, mostly because it has hits like Goodbye Stranger, Take the Long Way Home and The Logical song but there is so much more to this album than just those songs…. EVERY song is amazing!
